How to Balance Oversized Pieces.
Oversized clothes can feel comfortable and put together. The trick is giving the outfit a little definition while letting the relaxed fit do its job.
1. Balance a roomy top with a simpler bottom
Try an oversized sweater with straight-leg jeans or leggings. A cleaner shape below helps the sweater’s volume feel intentional.
Wide-leg trousers can work too. Try a shorter sweater or a small front tuck to show where the top ends and the trousers begin.
2. Show a little shape
You don’t have to tuck everything in. Turn back your sleeves to reveal your wrists, leave a jacket open or choose a sweater with side slits.
If you like a front tuck, keep it small and loose. If it creates bulk, leave the sweater untucked and try another adjustment.
3. Check where the layers finish
When layering a roomy top and jacket, notice their hems. A shorter jacket over a longer top can create a clear layered look. With a long coat, wearing it open lets the outfit underneath remain visible.
Choose a jacket with enough room through the shoulders and sleeves so the layers sit comfortably.
Try it with your wardrobe
Pair a relaxed cream sweater with straight-leg jeans and loafers. Turn back the sleeves and try a small front tuck. Compare it with the untucked version, then keep whichever feels best.
